چکیده

We present a study of the Drude weightD(T ) of the spin-1/2XXZ chain in the gapless regime. The thermodynamic Bethe ansatz (TBA) is applied in two different ways. In the first application we employ the particle basis of magnons and their bound states. In this case we rederive and considerably extend earlier work in the literature. However, in the course of our investigation we find arguments that cast doubt on the applicability of the TBA in this case. In a second application by use of the spinon and anti-spinon particle basis we obtain completely different results. Only for anisotropy parameter ∆ close to 0 we find that D(T ) is a monotonously decaying function of temperature. For ∆ close to 1 the behaviour is entirely different showing a finite temperature maximum. Also for the isotropic antiferromagnetic chain (∆ = 1) the results for D(T ) are finite for T = 0 as well as for T > 0 with an infinite positive slope at T = 0.

Finite-temperature dynamical density matrix renormalization group and the Drude weight of spin-1/2 chains.

We propose an easily implemented approach to study time-dependent correlation functions of one-dimensional systems at finite-temperature T using the density matrix renormalization group. The entanglement growth inherent to any time-dependent calculation is significantly reduced if the auxiliary degrees of freedom which purify the statistical operator are time evolved with the physical Hamiltoni...

Non-dissipative thermal transport in the massive regimes of the XXZ chain

We present exact results on the thermal conductivity of the one-dimensional spin-1/2 XXZ model in the massive antiferromagnetic and ferromagnetic regimes. The thermal Drude weight is calculated by a lattice path integral formulation. Numerical results for wide ranges of temperature and anisotropy as well as analytical results in the low and high temperature limits are presented. At finite tempe...

Conductivity in the Heisenberg chain with next-to-nearest-neighbor interaction.

We consider a spin chain given by the XXZ model with a weak next-to-nearest-neighbor perturbation that breaks its exact integrability. We prove that such a system has an ideal metallic behavior (infinite conductivity), by rigorously establishing strict lower bounds on the zero-temperature Drude weight, which are strictly positive. The proof is based on exact renormalization group methods allowi...

Finite temperature Drude weight of an integrable Bose chain

We study the Drude weight D(T ) at finite temperatures T of an integrable bosonic model where the particles interact via nearest-neighbour coupling on a chain. At low temperatures, D(T ) is shown to be universal in the sense that this region is equivalently described by a Gaussian model. This lowtemperature limit is also relevant for the integrable one-dimensional Bose gas. We then use the ther...

Haldane Gapped Spin Chains: Exact Low Temperature Expansions of Correlation Functions

We study both the static and dynamic properties of gapped, one-dimensional, Heisenberg, anti-ferromagnetic, spin chains at finite temperature through an analysis of the O(3) non-linear sigma model. Exploiting the integrability of this theory, we are able to compute an exact low temperature expansion of the finite temperature correlators. We do so using a truncated ‘form-factor’ expansion and so...
